Here you will find a guide to the range of commonly encountered sites from the Second World War. The aim of this guide is to provide information on the types of defences commonly encountered in the UK and provide practical advice for their recording to professional archaeological standards.

The guide will start with the main types of anti-invasion defence, such as the standard pillbox types, and anti-tank obstacles and will eventually incorporate wider site types commonly found in the UK.

This guide will be structured in accordance with the FISH Thesaurus of Monument Types used by the most heritage organisations in the UK.
